Daysteps Personal Lifestyle Planner Review and Giveaway

So here it is a new year is upon us. Do you make any resolutions? If you're like me, you have a constant resolution to be more organized! With as hectic as my life is, it really is very hard to keep up with everything in my head. I was so glad to hear about the Daysteps Personal Lifestyle Planner.

Daysteps aims to help women and their families lead the balanced and joyful lifestyle they choose. Daysteps believes that your definition of success is uniquely yours and comes from within. They want you to be thrilled with your life today and where it is headed tomorrow. Daysteps helps you nourish not only your mind and soul, but your body as well. A lifestyle of good nutrition and regular exercise helps you feel better both physically and psychologically, so you are better able to achieve your dreams.

The Daysteps Personal Lifestyle Planner really is something different. Not only does it keep track of your daily plans, it will also help you keep track of your monthly priorities as well too. In addtion to those, Daysteps also provides you a health and fitness tracker, nutrition tracker, a chance to clear your head, and to fill your heart. It definitely goes over and beyond your standard planner.

I was thrilled to receive a January to June 2010 planner to review. While I haven’t been able to fully use the planner yet, I can see this is going to help me tremendously will all of the activities we incur. I like the larger size of it rather than the pocket sized planners. This way, I can get a better picture of how our schedule lays out. I especially like the fitness and nutrition trackers. I think having to put something in writing that you keep having to refer back to will help in reaching those weight loss goals!

You can purchase the Daysteps Personal Lifestyle Planner either as a whole year set for $34.95 or in 6 month planners for $18.95.

Daysteps has been kind enough to offer one of my lucky readers a January-June 2010 planner. Want to win? Here's how:

Roverwrap.com Review

Winter is now upon us, and boy is it cold. Not only is it cold for us, but it's cold for our little fur babies too. With this winter planning on being colder than our usual winters, I was thrilled to hear about RoverWrap.com.

RoverWrap.com specializes in providing your pet the ultimate security blanket. It is a super cute encased blanket, kind of like a sleeping bag, that is sure to keep your pet snug and warm! Your pet is sure to love it whether they're being carried in it or snuggling into it at bed time.

The RoverWrap is great for smaller pets who:

*Get cold easily and/or love to snuggle in a blanket
*Want to stay warm after a bath
*Need to stay still during illness, after surgery or injury
*Want to keep shedding and/or claws off their human's lap, clothing, and furniture
*Get frightened or anxious in stressful situations
*Would love a warm place to cuddle while traveling

We had a chance to review the Kickin' it Kasual RoverWrap in the leopard print. This RoverWrap is made of a high quality fleece and is nicely trimmed with a satin like material. It was oober soft! My dog Puddin' found herself spoiled with warmth and comfort when she got into her RoverWrap. While, she isn't much for pictures, I assure you, she'd snuggle up on the couch in her RoverWrap. I loved it, because it helped keep less fur off of the couch. Her short hair gets everywhere so anything that will help keep it off of things is gladly welcomed. The same goes for when we're in the car. I have leather seats and she has sharp claws. Not a great combination. So now, she's able to lay in her RoverWrap and my seats are saved!

With Puddin' constantly wanting to use her RoverWrap, it has seen it's fair share of the washing machine. The RoverWrap holds up very well to machine washing. For as much as I have to wash it, I usually air dry it to keep the dryer from wearing it out. The RoverWrap is nicely constructed and has held up well to the abuse.

The RoverWrap makes a great gift for your little fur baby. The RoverWrap comes in several different sizes, prints, and materials so you're sure to please even the pickiest pet. With pricing starting at only $8, it's a great, inexpensive way to pamper your pet!

Check out RoverWrap.com to get yours! Also, make sure to become their fan on Facebook to keep up to date of giveaways and special promotions!

Seagate FreeAgent Theater+HD Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

I don't know about y'all, but my family and I really don't go to the movies at all anymore. The last time we went, it was just so outrageously expensive! Nevermind buying concessions, just getting the movie ticket itself is pricey. Even if you go in the afternoon! My husband and I have developed quite a system of having movie date nights after Brody has gone to bed. I was stoked to find out about Seagate's FreeAgent Theater + HD. It has brought new light to our movie nights!

Before I had a chance to review this, my husband had our tv hooked to a computer that served as a network. We don't have a DVD player so we just watched the movies through the computer. While it was better $ wise than going to the theater, it sucked quality wise. The Seagate FreeAgent Theater + HD was sooooo much better! The quality (high definition baby!) and the capabilities of this bad boy is amazing! I can't tell you how much I love this thing!

The FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player makes it easy to move, view and play your digital media files. And because it works with just about every format available, you can enjoy all of your entertainment on your TV—from Flip videos to photos to DVDs—regardless of resolution.

The FreeAgent Theater+HD:

* Accesses and plays content from your computer to a tv and directly from your digital camera, flash drive or external drives via two included USB ports
* Connects to your PC or Mac computer, network and the Internet via Ethernet or wirelessly with the optional Wi-Fi Adapter
* Lets you watch streaming media directly from the Internet, your computer and your USB devices
* Delivers all the content that’s included with your DVDs, including menus, commentator tracks and subtitles
* Makes navigating and managing your digital media files easy with the included remote control and intuitive on-screen menus
* Creates exciting slideshows with your own music track for sharing with friends and family

I really love the web browsing feature! You can access videos on YouTube, access pictures on Flickr, and so much more!

The FreeAgent Theater+HD is super simple to use too! All you have to do is connect the base to your tv. Then, you hook the Seagate hard drive to your computer to upload your videos and pictures. Once you're done, you simply slide the hard drive into the base and wallah! You just browse and play with your remote! If you don't want to upload the content to your hard drive, you can use the wireless capabilities (optional) of the base and browse your networked computers for content. Simply select and play. You don't need any special degree to be able to operate it. It is very user friendly!

My favorite part about the FreeAgent Theater+HD is the portability! If you can transport a DVD case you can transport this! The FreeAgent Theater+HD is small and very lightweight! On one hard drive you can carry tons of videos and pictures! This is great for when you're going to someone else's house! Say the kids need cartoons or you're having a girls night. Simply just upload your content and bring it with you!

The Seagate FreeAgent Theater+HD base is about $150. You will need the Seagate Portable Hard Drive as well which starts at $90. Assuming the average family of 4 sees 6 movies a year at $40 just on tickets...the Seagate FreeAgent Theater+HD would be paid for in the first year just by savings. I would definitely recommend it!

(Seagate Portable Hard Drive)

The kind folks at Seagate would like to give one of my lucky readers a Portable Hard Drive. You can use it with the Seagate Free Agent Theater+HD or simply for additional storage! Wanna win? Here's how:

FIRST, simply leave a comment telling me why you would want to win the Portable Hard Drive

After initial entry you make take advantage of the following for Extra Entries. You may (Leave a comment for each action):

Evolve Showerhead Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

We really do put forth an effort to be green at our house. Saving the environment not to mention money is a pretty big deal to us. When it came to my showers though, it was almost something I didn't want to sacrifice. When you live a life like mine, shower time is usually the only time you get to yourself.

Our showerhead was one of those $3 low flow shower heads you can buy at your local hardware store. Simply put, it sucked. I really didn't feel like I was saving anything with this low flow head. It felt like I would spend more time (meaning more water) in the shower just to get the shampoo out of my hair. Needless to say I was aggravated. There had to be a better solution. That's when I heard about Evolve Showerheads.

I was super excited to have the chance to review the Water Lily showerhead from Evolve. The Water Lily is a full flow showerhead, but it integrates smart ShowerStart™ technology. This technology allows you to be more green without having to sacrifice the flow. If your house is like mine, it takes a minute for the water to warm up. Usually, I find myself completing other tasks while I wait. The showerhead monitors the shower’s temperature and “triggers a trickle” as soon as the water reaches 95 degrees. This prevents your hot water and money from running down the drain before you can get in the shower. With the Evolve showerhead in place, not only have you eliminated the water and energy waste, but the sound of the trickle tells you that your shower’s ready. Once you're ready to hop in, you simply just pull the chain to resume normal flow. It's just that easy!

The Water Lily has some excellent features:
ShowerStart™ technology - save time, water & money without lowering water flow
maximum flow rate allowable by law (2.5 pgm)
multi-function rain head
works with standard shower arm
ideal balance of coverage and great flow
3 spray patterns: rain, massage and a combination spray
solid brass fittings
anti-clog nozzles

In addition to being so cool, an Evolve showerhead can save a yearly average of 2,700 gallons of water, the fossil-fueled energy it takes to heat it—and up to $75 off your utility bill. So, within the first year, you'll already have savings to pay for it. Yes, it's just that awesome.

We loved the Water Lily showerhead we received! I loved how I finally had the water pressure back! No longer did I feel like I was sacrificing my alone time! Actually, with the 3 spray patterns, the Water Lily helped me relax! I would definitely recommend this! With the Water Lily ranging from $70-$75 coupled with the water savings of $75 within a year, this is a no brainer!

Evolve showerheads has been sweet enough to give one of my lucky readers a Water Lily showerhead for their bathroom! Wanna win? Here's how:

FIRST, simply leave a comment telling me what you're currently doing to be more green.

After initial entry you make take advantage of the following for Extra Entries. You may (Leave a comment for each action):

My Awesome Target Trip (Printables Included)

I made a trip out to Target today. The dogs needed food so I figured I'd pick up a few other things too. Here's what I got:

12 - Swiss Miss 10 pk - reduced to $0.97 ea ($11.64)
3 - 2 pk GE Lightbulbs (sadly not CFLs but couldn't complain) - reduced to $2.24 ea ($6.72)
2 - 4.5 lbChef Michaels Dog Food - $4.53 ea ($9.06).
4- 24 oz Chef Michaels Dog Food - $2.24 ea ($8.96)
2 - Beggin' Strips - $2.54 ea ($5.08)
8 - Various sizes of Rayovac Batteries - $1.00 ea ($8.00)

Total: $49.46

Coupons I used:

Swiss Miss - Target Coupon $1 off (Click HERE for pdf)

Any GE Lighting Product - Target Printable Coupons (Click HERE)

Chef Michaels Dog Food - (Click HERE )

Any Purina Dog Food Product - (This coupon takes a little more work. To receive the coupon you must request a pet insurance quote. Enter code: B3KCA. Then at the end of the form click "save and email quote". The email you receive will have the link to the printable. You can print twice. Since Purina doesn’t provide coverage to all states, only the zip codes in the states that they do provide coverage will receive the coupon. If yours isn't accepted just use "30606".)

Beggin' Strips - These were 2 coupons stacked. You can get the $1 off 1 manf coupon from Target's printable coupons HERE and then you can get $1 off 2 Target store printable by clicking HERE. Strange, I know.

Rayovac Batteries - Click HERE and put in code 74016761 and you can print a coupon for $1 off Rayovac. These are located in Target's dollar zone.

After coupons:

12 - Swiss Miss = All for $0
3 - 2pk GE Lightbulbs = All for $2.22
2 - 4.5 lb Chef Michaels dog food = All for $.08 (There was also a magical refund of $2.04 ea that was applied at checkout on this size. I was kind of bummed there wasn't a sign, otherwise I would've bought all in this size. )
4 - 24 oz Chef Michaels dog food = All for free
2 - Beggin' Strips = All for 2.08
8 - Rayovac Batteries = All for free

Total spent : $4.38

Even though I missed out on buying the larger size on the dog food I can't beat myself up too bad. I did pretty well. Oh, and remember, you can always print multiples if you have more than 1 computer.

Cheerios 100,000 Book Giveaway (closed)

I am about to share a flooring statistic with you. Did you know that over 80% of childcare centers serving low income families lack age appropriate books? 80%! Also, a recent study showed that the ratio of books per child in middle income neighborhoods is 13 to 1, while low income is 1 age appropriate book per 300 children. When I read that I just couldn't believe my eyes. I was thrilled to hear that the Cheerios family of cereals along with First Book and Jon Scieszka, author of the popular “Trucktown” series and other children’s books, have joined together to deliver 100,000 books to community-based programs serving children in need.

Cheerios sent me this gift pack (pictured above) through My Blog Spark. I jumped at the chance to spread about this promotion. You need to check out the 100,000 Book Giveaway web page. There, you can take a simple yet fun trivia game. What's great about this game is that for each question you answer correctly you get a vote for your state! The 5 states with the most votes will each receive 20,000 books to distribute to children in need.

As I mentioned prior, we received the books pictured above. Talk about an enjoyable time. Right before bed time we always take time to read. Adding new books to the mix is always fun! What was even better was that these books came in a pocket sized paperback format. That made them much easier to travel with when we went to see the grandparents! My gracious thanks goes out to Cheerios and My Blog Spark!

One of my lucky readers will receive an assortment of books from Cheerios, a box of Cheerios, and a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. Want to win? Here's how!

FIRST, leave a comment telling me why your state should get 20,000 books OR How many trivia questions did you correctly answer

After initial entry you make take advantage of the following for Extra Entries. You may (Leave a comment for each action):

Super Great Deal for Batteries at Dollar Tree

With Christmas coming up so is the need for batteries. I was at the local Dollar Tree (The real $1 store) yesterday and came across a great deal for batteries. While $1 for a 4 pack of batteries batteries is always a good deal, I saw an even better deal. They had an 8 pack Sunbeam "AA" batteries for only $1. That is a super great deal! Especially since it seems like everything requires "AA" batteries. They also had an 8 pack of "AAA" batteries too.

While these are a great deal, I would not recommend these for power hogging gifts such as digital cameras and wireless game controllers (I recommend rechargeables for those) but for everything else these work great!

Easy Homemade Chocolate Syrup

So last night I found myself without any chocolate syrup. I didn't want to go out and buy any so I had to get creative. I started thinking about fudge, brownies and such and this is what I came up with:

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup hot water
2 cups sugar or Splenda
a pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Add the hot water to a saucepan and mix in the cocoa. While heating, go ahead and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Then add the sugar. Continue to stir until both the cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Boil for about 3-4 minutes over medium heat. At the end of that duration, remove from heat, add the salt and the vanilla, stir and then let it cool. Once it cools you can store it in the fridge. I used a clean mason jar.

This should keep for a good long while. It will make 2 cups or 1 mason jar. It is rich so use sparingly. 1 teaspoon should be enough for a glass of chocolate milk. Oh and believe me, it's quite yummy! Enjoy!

PLAY-DOH Star Wars The Clone Wars R2-D2 Playset Review

If your child is as much into Star Wars like my son is this is a must get for your child this Christmas. I'm talking about the Star Wars - The Clone Wars R2-D2 Playset made by PLAY-DOH. Talk about hours of fun!

"This little droid is big fun when it comes to molding, shaping and other creativity! Use your PLAY-DOH compound to make a cool-push out lightsaber, “activate” this R2-D2 figure’s side jets and even make more tools for him. Then make him other out-of-this-world friends by stamping C-3PO™, Ahsoka™ and Obi-Wan Kenobi™ characters with stamps on this droid’s feet, molding an Anakin Skywalker™ character and even stamping other Star Wars movie-themed shapes. When playtime is over, just put all of your tools inside your special droid friend so that they’re safely stored for the next time you’ve got to save the galaxy!"

Brody is a HUGE fan of Star Wars. I blame that on my husband. *sigh* Anyways, when we were offered the opportunity to review The Clone Wars R2-D2 Playset I knew Brody would be in Hog Heaven! And indeed he was. He was so excited when I gave him the box. He just could not wait to get it all out and play with it.

Now, this really is an adult supervision toy. Unless, you know for sure your child isn't going to get crazy with the PLAY-DOH. I'd let Brody play with it in the kitchen while I played with him or while I cooked dinner. Aside from that, it really is a great quality toy. PLAY-DOH has been around forever so it's definitely a brand I know and trust. We've had this set for a little while now and Brody still has not tired of it yet.

You can find this play set at your local mass retailer and HasbroToyShop.com. HasbroToyShop.com has this set on sale for $17.99 so it should be comparable at your local store.

Playskool Dino Roars Hatchlings Triceratops Review

What a cute little dinosaur! Now, I know "cute" isn't the first word that comes to mind when you hear "dinosaur" but these little Dino Roars Hatchlings from Playskool will have you and your child wooing over them.

Surprisingly enough the Dino Roars Hatchlings are soft and snuggly. You simply pet it's back to wake him up. He then comes to life! He roars like a real dino hatchling! Its head and mouth really move! And even though he looks rough and scaly, his soft “skin” will have your child petting their pet dino all day long! These prehistoric playmates even come with a discovery sheet so you and your child will know a few interesting facts about your new friend. The Dino Roars Hatchlings take 3 AAA batteries which are included. These are age appropriate for ages 3 and up.

We were offered an opportunity to review the Dino Roars Hatchlings Triceratops. Oh how cute it was! My son loved his new little friend. Everywhere Brody went, the triceratops was in tow. Brody would simply carry him under his arm until he saw someone then, of course, he'd wake his triceratops up to roar. It was so cute to see how proud he was of his triceratops. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep "Stomper" (yes, that's his name) out of Brody's bed. So, after lights out you'd hear "Stomper" down the hall.

We've had tons of fun with the Triceratops Dino Roars Hatchling. I would definitely recommend it for your child's Christmas this year. HasbroToyShop.com has these on sale for $14.99 so I'm sure it's comparable at your local store. Hasbro has also offered a printable coupon for $5.00 off these Hatchlings too so make sure you use it!

FoldTuk = Greatness Review + Giveaway (closed)

I wanted to introduce y'all to a product I thought was incredibly neat. If you're like me, you're probably limited on cabinet space. Being limited on cabinet space also limits how much cookware you can have as well. I know I sometimes find myself pulling out everything I have for just one meal. That's why you need to know about FoldTuk products!

FoldTuk provides collapsible kitchenware. Yup, that's right! It's literally kitchenware you can fold up yet still be able to cook with. FoldTuk actually provides the first and only collapsible bakeware that can be used in conventional, convection, infrared, (up to 500 degrees) and microwave ovens due to its Green and petroleum free Ceramber material. It is airtight, stackable, dishwasher safe, and naturally nonstick (No non-stick coating applied), making it your most functional bakeware and cold storage container. Pretty neat huh?

I received the four cup rectangular bakeware in red. When I opened the box, I noticed it was folded. Wow, it was only 1 inch tall. I unfolded it and it became full size with no effort. Of course, when my son saw me do it he wanted to get in on it too. Folded, unfolded, folded, unfolded...ect. Needless to say it got quite the workout. Yet, it still worked great!

FoldTuk is not your typical bakeware. You can prepare, cook, serve, store and reheat all IN THE SAME DISH! Hello! Can we say "easy"?! Not only that, but leftovers are good to go. You simply just put the lid on it and in the fridge is goes. You really don't have any clean up! ! When you are finished, throw it in the dishwasher. To store, simply collapse the product and put up until next use!

FoldTuk products are made of Ceramber which heats up and cools down faster than silicone bakeware products. FoldTuk is very durable yet sturdy and has all the function benefits of Pyrex or Corningware. FoldTuk's Ceramber construction allows it to transfer from deep freeze directly into a hot baking oven eliminating any risk of thermal impact...and it is 100% shatter proof. You gotta love that!

I really loved the FoldTuk bakeware I received. It's an energy saver, time saver, and space saver all in one! Anything that makes my life easier is definitely worth spreading the word for! FoldTuk is definitely worth checking out! My readers can get a 20% discount by using promo code "the copper brick road" (With spaces. Good until 1/1)

Know someone with limited kitchen space? Think about giving them FoldTuk this Christmas!
