The Tot Shield Review and Giveaway

For most people (myself included) grocery shopping is just part of life. You don't really evaluate the task for more than it's worth. The same goes for the shopping cart you use while you're there. *Raises hand in shame* yes I was one of those people who'd just plop my son down in a buggy and not think twice about it. He was never one to try and chew on the handle or the strap buckles so I figured we were good. Preoccupied with shopping, I never really took time to notice holding the handle and then rubbing his nose or putting his hands in his mouth. Once I finally did, I flipped out. I just thought about how many hands and kids who'd sat there prior oh it just grossed me out.

I did a search on how gross shopping carts really were and it brought up a hit for Snopes.com. If you don't know what Snopes.com is.... it is a web site with the purpose of proving fact or fiction of certain things including chain emails, urban legends, news stories....ect. Turns out that snopes.com proved true on how nasty shopping carts really are. They cite their source as a 4 year research study from the University of Arizona. I quote:

"According to a four-year study conducted by the University of Arizona's Environmental Research Lab and sponsored by Clorox, grocery carts are veritable petri dishes teeming with human saliva, mucus, urine, fecal matter, as well as the blood and juices from raw meat. Swabs taken from the handles and child seats of 36 grocery carts in San Francisco, Chicago, Tucson, and Tampa showed these common surfaces to rank third on the list of nastiest public items to touch, with only playground equipment and the armrests on public transportation producing more disgusting results. In terms of playing host to germs and bacteria, the carts are far worse than public bathrooms, which at least are cleaned more often. Bacteria and viruses such as E.coli, staphylococcus, salmonella, and influenza can live on grocery carts, a sorry fact most shoppers are blissfully unaware of."

I'll give you a moment to do a full body shiver.

Ok, so now that I've made you more of a germaphobe than you might've already been, let's assess what you can do about it. You could carry disinfectant wipes with you and clean it down every time you go to the store. However, it's a cost every time you use it and it's waste to add to the landfill. Or, you could get a reusable, comfortable shopping cart cover!

Look Ma! No Germs! Woo Hoo!

I found the perfect, frugal source for your shopping cart cover needs! It is called The Tot Shield! I was so thankful that The Tot Shield offered an opportunity for me to review this awesome product!

The Tot Shield is a wonderful great quality solution to those germy shopping carts. The available prints are cute to boot! Many different colors and prints are available. The Tot Shield is crafted with high quality fabric, and very tight stitching around the seams to ensure long lasting use! It is machine washable. From my experience, The Tot Shield held up very well to machine washing. I allowed it to air dry only because I always allow frequently used products of this nature to air dry. It allows them to last longer.

I absolutely love The Tot Shield! Our experience has been a great one. As you can tell from the picture above, DS loved riding around in it. It has just enough plush to make the shopping experience more comfortable for him. For the price, I was very impressed with how nice it was. The stitching quality was great and I loved how it even had holes for the shopping cart seat belt. It has held up very well. I have a feeling that it will be lasting us a long time.

Remember (how could you forget?!) what I quoted above mentioning the playground? What's great about The Tot Shield is, you can also use it to cover baby swings at the park! You can also use it in high chairs at the restaurant! It's a great multi-use product to keep your baby safe from touching nasty nasty germs! What surprised me was the quality in conjunction with the price. It's only $21.95 (plus s/h)!!! How great is that?!

If you're looking for a shopping cart cover for your child and don't wanna spend a ton of money, this is what you need. The customer service is great and the shipping is fast! This is definitely a frugal mom pick!

Oh, I should also mention since the case of germy shopping carts is on your mind. The Tot Shield also sells The Hand Shield! Don't have kids? Or not taking them to shop with you? Protect yourself by using The Hand Shield. It simply attaches around the handle to keep you germ free! It's super cheap at only $4.95!

The Tot Shield has also been kind enough to offer a Tot Shield to giveaway!

The Baby Traveller Deluxe All-In-One Changing Station

Prepare for the Hummer of changing pad/stations! The Baby Traveller Deluxe has all the features to make traveling with baby a snap! With buckles here, pockets there, and a convenient way of carrying it, the Baby Traveller Deluxe, (made by gr8x) brings a punch! I was so glad that Regal Lager gave me a chance to review it!

The Baby Traveller Deluxe
makes the most sense for families with multiple children in diapers or for the parent who's thinking long term (i.e using for one child then when the next is born). The high quality, very durable canvas is so great that it will last you a long time. Also, the Baby Traveller Deluxe is covered by a two year warranty!

The Baby Traveller Deluxe comes in several different colors. With the rugged modern design, mom or dad could carry this bag. They come in several different colors so you can pick a color to fit your personality, your baby's, or a neutral color for both mom and dad to use.

Wonderful Features Include:

  • Machine washable
  • Adjustable backpack straps
  • Organized pockets that hold everything you will need to change your baby, including a large rear pocket
  • Removable stroller straps
  • Adjustable shoulder strap & briefcase style handle
  • Soft, removable and machine washable change mat (spare change mats also available as separate accessory items)
  • Insulated bottle traveller
  • Drawstring bungee cord for a wrap or small blanket
  • Mobile phone pouch
  • 2 year manufacturing warranty

Dimensions:

  • changing area L89cm x W33cm
  • Bag closed H36cm x W39cm

I absolutely love our bag! As great as it is, it's not surprising to know that it won an iParenting award! I know we've all found ourselves in those situations where we're out and about and all there is, is either the back seat of our car or the nasty changing table in the restroom. I think I've actually mastered changing DS squatting down with my knees as the changing table. Thank God, that's no more! The Baby Traveller Deluxe provides a clean safe way to change baby. It's machine washable and the changing pad is removable so you can always insure that it is clean and ready to go!

I was able to review the black floral design. It was gender neutral but just enough floral to make it kind of cute. DH doesn't mind carrying it which is a plus. It's funny though, because when he's out and someone asks "Hey Man, are those flowers on your bag?" he responds "No...no it's camo...you know, kind of like that Real Tree hunting camo" and then everyone thinks it's so cool.

I think my favorite feature is that it comes with two sets of carrying straps. You can either carry it over your shoulder like a purse or over both shoulders like a backpack. I also loved how soft the removable changing cover is!

I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone! Especially those moms who are like me who are always forgetting something! This bag's pouches hold everything without looking bulky! Below is a video which shows you exactly how the bag works. To get yours, please check out Regal Lager!

My SnapTotes.com Bag Arrived!!

If you remember, I posted a lil' while back about ordering my SnapTotes.com bag. It's been about two weeks and it finally arrived! I have been driving my husband absolutely nuts! Every day when I got home from work, I'd ask him "Did it come yet? Did it come yet?" I'd either get a sigh and then a "no" or I would get a "No! Quit asking!" It was so funny when it did come because when he heard me drive up he was standing at the door with it.

I was like a kid at Christmas. With the concept of actually printing the photo on the bag, I was totally excited to see how it turned out. Boy, it sure was worth wait! I cannot believe how nice it turned out!

Going back to the screen shots from the ordering process this is what it looked like:
And this is what the bag looked like when I got it:

I was just blown away to how great it looked in person. I really loved how it looked exactly the same as it did online. With photo personalized products, sometimes the picture quality is horrible. SnapTotes.com sure did deliver! I am totally stoked about my new bag. I've already got it packed up to take to work to show off! I am so thankful to SnapTotes.com for offering the opportunity. My son turns 3 on Sunday but now I can always see my wittle baby!

The photo personalized bags from SnapTotes.com are awesome and would blow away any mother for Mother's Day! SnapTotes.com is offering my readers a 15% discount by using promo code BRICK15. Since I mentioned what a great Mother's Day gift this would you should go ahead and take advantage of this discount and remember that the last day to order to receive by Mother's Day is April 30th.

Silver Dolphin Kids Book Review and Giveaway (closed)

As we probably all know, reading to our kids is super essential. The younger you start, the better off your child will be. I was so happy that I got a chance to review some books from Silver Dolphin Books! DS just loooooved them. Of course you know, if you child loves something, they are going to be more responsive to it. Reading can be tough to build a habit of. But remember, it's cheap, it's fun, and can take you anywhere without leaving the house!

Silver Dolphin Books
publishes activity, novelty, and educational nonfiction books for preschoolers to 12-year-olds. With this age range, you're bound to find something you and your child will love! Silver Dolphin Books is an award winning company. Several of their books have won the Parent's Choice awards. (You can click here to see the extensive list)

DS and I were given the chance to review Reptiles by Maurice Pledger & A. J. Wood and Field Guide to Dinosaurs by Nancy Honovich. Both were such great books! DS just wanted to read these books over and over again! Both books were hardback with high quality paper.

DS especially loved Reptiles. Reptiles is a touch based book. So, while we were learning about the different reptiles covered, we were also learning what their skin felt like too. I actually found that kind of neat myself! The illustrations were wonderful! This is the description straight from Silver Dolphin:

"Ssssssss! Who’s that slithering in the grass? What cold-blooded creature is hiding in the shadows? Don’t be afraid—it’s a reptile! This scaly extravaganza explores the fascinating world of creatures like lizards, snakes, crocodiles and turtles. Filled with Maurice Pledger’s beautifully detailed wildlife illustrations, each spread features detailed keys to the creatures appearing on the page. Designed for kids ages 4 to 6, this touch-and-feel adventure gives young readers a tactile, interactive learning experience."

Field Guide To Dinosaurs was another great book! We learned so much about dinosaurs! The illustrations were just jaw dropping great! DS (with my assistance) loved putting together the little dinosaur skeleton models that came with the book. This would be a great book for the lil paleontologist in your family. This is the description straight from Silver Dolphin:

"The Petrified Forest of Arizona seemed like the perfect place to start to search for fossils,” writes our hero in his 1929 journal. Thus begins the exciting hunt for dinosaurs and their prehistoric secrets in The Field Guide to Dinosaurs. Through a series of journal entries, kids will uncover the mysteries of the dinosaur kingdom-from the speedy and agile Coelophysis to the existence of Pangaea, the landmass of the earth some 227 million years ago when all of the continents were one. Junior paleontologists can experience the excitement of a dig as they rifle through maps, illustrations and engaging interactive elements, including eight dinosaur models and a museum-ready diorama that they can easily assemble themselves. Dino-crazy kids ages 8 and up will dig this lively adventure"

Silver Dolphin Books offers great quality inexpensive books for your children. They are definetly worth checking out! We loved our books and will be return customers. The customer service was absolutely great!

Silver Dolphin Books is offering a chance for you to win a book for your child! Nice huh? So how do you enter?

Visit Silver Dolphin's website and leave a comment telling me which book you'd pick for your child (if you win, this will be the book you'll receive)

Planet Wise Wet Bag Review and Giveaway

I was so excited that Nicki's Diapers gave me a chance to review the Planet Wise Wet Bag. These bags are totally awesome! They are a great, fashionable way to carry baby's wet clothes, diapers, shoes, swimwear, cosmetics, ect! Oh yeah, and did I mention great for the environment?

Planet Wise Wet Bags are the FIRST and ONLY wet bag that are not only sewn but sealed at the seams so they won't leak or wick. Apparently, most waterproof material develop tiny holes from the stitching when they are sewn. Planet Wise figured out a way to be able to seal the seams so no liquid can come out! Also, their waterproof material is PVC free.

As you can see above, the Planet Wise Wet Bags have soooo many great features! What I didn't mention was how great these bags are about resisting most odors and stains. Plus, once you pull that zipper closed it locks until you pull it open. This is great because no odors come out. That's an extremely big deal especially if you're traveling! These bags are top knotch quality! Planet Wet Bags come in 3 sizes: Small 8"x10", Medium 13"x16", and Large 18"x21".

I know prior to this review, DS' wet items would go into a plastic grocery bag. Especially if he had an accident at school. Now, his teachers love his cute lil bag! I love it too because now I can really not use the grocery bags. I'm doing my part to help the planet! It was so easy and it wasn't a huge transition!

Check out Nicki's Diapers to get your wet bag or other diapering products! They offer such great customer service and speedy delivery! Nicki's Planet Wise Wet Bags are very nice and super cute! Make sure you get a wet bag for the car and one for school!

Want to Win One??
Nicki's Diapers was so nice to offer a large wet bag for giveaway in the Art Deco Print

WeFitFamilies Mothers Day Bash & Giveaway

Since having my son, I have been in a whirlwind. This has happened to be both mentally and physically. It really started when I was pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy I ended up putting on 50 lbs. It was depressing to me, but I figured I was sacrificing my body for the greater good. Believe it or not, I was naive enough to think that all of the weight would just vanish after having him. I mean, the girls my age who'd had babies, popped them out and were tooth picks again. I wasn't older so I really didn't think I was going to still be large. I can remember, every time I went in for my checkup, there was a piece of paper taped up above the scale I'd get weighed on. I can't remember the specifics but I remember it was a break down of pregnancy weight gain. In pounds it described how much went to the baby, how much to the tummy, how much for the boobs....ect. No problem I thought. All of this will go away once the baby is gone.

Boy was I in for a big surprise. Total weight loss after birth, 10 lbs. 10 freakin' pounds! I was totally floored and depressed. The hormones could've helped that too but nevertheless I was upset. After I was able to, I busted my butt! I was able to lose most of the weight. I got down to 10 lbs within my original weight. However, my body had transformed. It didn't look like I was even close to my original weight. That in itself has played the mental games. So, now I toggle between 10-20 of my original weight. With plans of another baby in the works and a full knowledge of how the weight gain really works, I'm really trying to get back down. WeFitFamilies.com has really helped me with this. The support of other members, the recipes, fitness ideas, ect has been great! WeFitFamilies.com is really helping me approach my goal and also keep my family healthy as well!

WeFitFamilies.com is having the ultimate Mothers Day Bash! Oh yeah, it's going to be great, especially since the grand prize sponsored by McCormick Spices is going to be:

  • Set of Super Spices
  • DietFoodsRX Book
  • Measuring Spoon Set
  • $200 Gift Certificate to the winner's local grocery store so they can put the Super Spice tips to use!
How awesome is that!? There's going to be a Twitter party on 5/1 with door prizes as well! You don't have to be present to win.

What's even awesome'er is that I'm giving away a set of McCormick Spices as well! They include (cinnamon, red pepper, curry, ginger, oregano, thyme, and rosemary) Entering here will also give you a chance for the grand prize! Oh yeah!

So what do you have to do to win??? (You must be a Twitter Member to Win)

Go to McCormick Spices website and tell me something you learned from Spices101 (you must leave your Twitter ID with your post. It will be deleted if not)

My Little Seat - Portable High Chair Review & ID Card Giveaway

When I first saw the My Little Seat Portable High Chair I thought it was a tremendously great idea! I was so happy My Precious Kid gave me a chance to review it! It is very easy to use, very easy to travel with, and it's very affordable, making it a great frugal pick for moms!

One of the things I always notice (don't ask me why) at the airport is parents carrying those portable high chairs that attach to the table. That is in addition to the car seat! For me, that just seems like one extra unnecessary piece of luggage. Not only that, but personally I know I couldn't keep up with all of that. My family does a lot of road trips to see family and other folks. With as much stuff as we already have to pack, one of those portable high chairs would not fit in the car. That's what I love about the My Little Seat, it folds down to the size of a diaper and has a cute matching bag. You can easily put into your child's diaper bag!

Simply put, My Little Seat operates by slipping it over the back of one of the chairs at the table. You then just buckle your child in. That's it! It was designed with safety in mind and incorporates a 5 point harness along with its extra reinforced seaming and is safety tested for strength and durability. My Little Seat works best for children 6 months and up (up to 35 lbs)or whenever your baby can sit up unassisted.

My Little Seat is super convenient. Aside from the traveling advantages, the cleaning advantages are worth mentioning as well. My Little Seat is machine washable so you can just throw it in the wash and forget it. Also, there isn't a tray to get messy either! With you sitting right there next to baby, hand feeding is a breeze.

I have been testing out the My Little Seat for a while now and I have to compliment the quality of it. It has held up very well to DS and multiple machine washings. I wash and then hang it up to air dry. I love it! Especially when we go to someone's house who does not have any children and don't have a high chair to use. DS feels like a big boy when he's able to just sit in the chair at the table. Without a tray, there's no food to play with, no mess to make, and no mess to clean. You gotta love that!

My Little Seat, is a clean, affordable, and convenient way to get baby to the table. At only $24.99 it is definitely worth the purchase! You can get yours from My PreciousKid.com! The customer service is fabulous and the delivery time can't be beat!

My Precious Kid is all about child safety. They are giving away 5 Car Seat Id Cards. These cards stick to your child's car seat by velcro. Why would you want one of these cards? Well, Heaven forbid, if you're ever in an accident, the Car Seat ID Card allows medical personnel to treat the child even if parent is not available. The car seat ID Card provides the medical staff the child’s name, which is a comfort to the child and provides contact numbers for parents at work, grandparents or some other friend or family member.

SnapTotes.com Review

Oh I am so excited that I was offered a chance to review SnapTotes.com! They offer adorable photo personalized products with a special emphasis on handbags. SnapTotes.com offers several styles from small hand carry bags to large tote bags so you're sure to find something you like! These bags also make such great gifts for moms or grandparents. Actually, they would make a great gift for just about anyone! Hint Hint: Mother's Day is coming up, this would be an excellent gift!

The ordering process is super easy! I was actually surprised in how easy it was! You simply just pick the bag you like, then add the photo(s). What's great about picking out your bag, is the fact it shows how the photo is placed on the bag and gives dimensions prior to going through all the motions. When adding the photos, you do have the option to either upload your photo or mail it in. You also have the choice to add more than one photo. You can either add 1 photo to either side or you can make a collage with several photos! If you choose to upload your photo, it then presents you with a visual of the bag so you can position the photo(s) to your liking. I love how customizable it is!

For me, I picked out a large tote bag because I needed one for work and I wanted to be able to show it off. I just picked two photos. One for the front and one for the back. It makes me sad how fast DS is growing up so I picked 2 of my most favorite pictures I've taken of him. One was of him wrapped up on the bed and the other was when he was learning to walk and he was at the window with our dog. It looked like she was giving him walking lessons. You just can't put a price on these memories. Especially when I can carry them with me everyday! This way I can always remind myself of my cute wittle baby.

These pictures above are actually the screen shots they provide when your customizing your bag. So as you can see, you know exactly what you will be getting. How neat?!

SnapTotes.com is offering my readers a 15% discount by using promo code BRICK15. Since I mentioned what a great Mother's Day gift this would you should go ahead and take advantage of this discount and remember that the last day to order to receive by Mother's Day is April 30th.

Peter Walsh's In Place System Review

A little bit ago I was asked to sit in on a webcast with Peter Walsh. He talked about his new system of organizational products called the In Place System which is only sold at Office Max. He also gave some super great advice in using this new system. I received some samples of this great line and let me tell you....In Place is something I could get use to. Normally, I'm organized, unorganized but as we all know, that doesn't work.

As most of you know, I am a working mom. A lot of times I do end up having to bring my work home with me. Well, in addition to my at home stuff, I also use my office for my blogging as well. So as you can imagine, that can add up to a huge disorganized mess! I am so glad I got a chance to review the In Place system by Peter Walsh. These products will fit just about anywhere and go with anything.

I love the frugality that's built into these products! The folders are very durable, go with anything, and the organizing sticky labels can be written on with a special pen that's erasable! Which means you can use the folders over and over again!

The In Place system is so neat, that it itself will encourage you to get organized! I've never seen a system where all the different products worked so well with each other! I especially love how you can just put your files into the traveling file tote. That's really great for me to transport my work files back and forth home.

If you find yourself in a disorganized mess, I would highly recommend Peter Walsh's In Place system. I cannot tell you how it has improved my life. You never realize how stressed you are with an unorganized space until you have a clean organized space. It's truly heavenly. You can only find the In Place System at Office Max. You should definitely check out Peter Walsh's page at Office Max. Click here.
