Peoplefood For Dogs

As I mentioned a little while ago our dog recently had a litter of puppies. She had had 6 and we gave away 4 to our closest friends. We decided to keep one (Vader) and we still had one to giveaway (Spanky). We finally found another friend who's children wanted a puppy but before we could give them Spanky she got deathly ill. A picture of Spanky is in the last post. It was taken a couple of days ago. DS took it upon himself to hold her a lot and tell people when they came over "panky sick" he never pronounces the "S".

It started out as a limp on a late Sunday night. I had noticed Spanky limping so I thought maybe she'd played too hard with Vader or maybe DS had tried to pick her up and drop her. Once I noticed, I checked it out, moved it around, felt it to make sure it wasn't broken....nothing. She didn't wince in pain when I fooled with it. So, I made the decision to take her to the vet when they were open late. My vet is only open late one night which is Wednesday and that allows me not to miss work. As the days, progressed she got worse and worse. I thought it was strange at the time because her acts weren't consistent with a hurt leg....she was acting like she was sick. She wasn't eating, she wasn't drinking....nothing.

By the time I was able to get her to the vet which ended up being Wed morning ( I took off from work) She was in very bad shape. The vet found that the inside of her ears were very swollen, her lymph nodes were starting to swell, her bottom was swollen, she had a fever and she was dehydrated. The vet told me he'd be surprised if Spanky made it through the night. I felt sooo bad. Here I was thinking it was just her leg and I never thought to even look at her ears or anything else for that matter. Trying to work around my tears, the vet tried to console me telling me there's no way I would have known to check but I still felt like the worse person ever.

Because she wasn't eating or drinking, the vet wanted to put her in the hospital. At $150-$300 a DAY there was no way I could afford that. That's what I told him. I said that I feel dogs are just like people and do their best healing at home where they're comfortable. Give her fluids now, give me drugs and I'll bring her back if we need to. So that's what he did.

Once I got home from the vet, I noticed there was a package at the door. Upon opening it, I noticed it was the Peoplefood For Dogs. Now I had agreed to review this product based really on taste....I didn't think I was going to be reviewing it for it's literal purpose. Desperate, I opened it up, heated it up and gave it to Spanky praying she would eat it. It was the Chicken, Oatmeal, and Sweet Potato kind. Boy did she scarf it up. She ate a whole bowl just in that sitting. Finally! We made progress! I immediately called the vet who advised me to continue feeding her that. Throughout her recovery, she's been eating the Peoplefood For Dogs. I've slowly been introducing puppy food back into it and she has responded terrifically! She's even put the weight back on! I'm sure you're asking me what she has, I can't remember the long scientific name...but it was only the 2nd time in my vet's 30 years that he'd ever seen it and it only effects puppies. Strangely enough, none of the other puppies have been effected. We go for her 4th vet visit this weekend. We finally got the swelling down and her playful temperament is back so I think we're gonna get some good news.

I love the Peoplefood For Dogs snack food wholeheartedly because it saved my puppy's life. Everything is natural and the ingredients are ones you can find at your every day grocery store. It really is a great solution for dogs who are sick or may have just gone through surgery. Vets do recommend the ingredients that are used in these snacks. Also, it can make taking medicine a tad bit easier for the dog.

Spanky's angel Dee really came through for her. Dee owns Peoplefood For Dogs. She is a total sweetheart and she is looking for companies/pet stores to distribute this great product. Tell your local pet store you want this product on their shelves! Information on how to get involved is on her website. She has 4 different flavors:

Chicken and Rice
Chicken and Oatmeal
Chicken, Oatmeal, and Sweet Potato (Spanky's Fav)
Chicken, Sweet Potato, and White Potato

You do have the option to buy this product directly from Dee. Check out her website at www.peoplefood4dogs.com for options. Your doggie will thank you!
